Crochet Gimli Helmet Complete with Beard

One year ago my husband asked me for one of these. He had since forgotten.

It didn’t actually take me more than four hours of crafting to make this simplified model of the honking helmet.
I’m rather happy with the details. I went for different shades of grey for the “metal” base and a mix of beige and gold for the helmet engravings. Then I used three shades of brown yarn for the beard. The lady in the local yarn shop officially finds me creepy and weird after today.

Too bad it’s still +25 degrees C out, I’d like to see him wear it NOW.

    That is top notch. Did you write the pattern yourself? Extremely impressive, if so!

      Glad you liked it! Did the whole thing without a pattern. Only had a look at the “inspiration pic”.. Since it isn’t my original idea I didn’t write a pattern 🙂
